Travel To London

Car

Our Hemel Hempstead apartments are a short distance to the M1 motorway. The M1 motorway offers a number of driving routes into London. It is an approximate 25 minute journey to Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

Train

Hemel Hempstead Station

Hemel Hempstead train station offers a fast (28 minute) service to London Euston.

There is also good access to Wembley Central (change at Watford Junction – 1 stop from Hemel Hempstead). It is also possible to access the London Underground network from Watford Junction (connection to Bakerloo Line) London Underground (download the TFL Go app for good map and travel information).

Rickmansworth Station

My personal preferred method of travel into London is to drive (15/20 minutes) to Rickmansworth Station, where you can park all day for £5.

You will need the Citipark App to Pay. Please note that the app does not work for non-uk cars, so there is a machine near the entrance which can be used instead to pay for parking.

Two services run through Rickmansworth. One is the overground train to London Marylebone.

The other service is the London Underground Metropolitan Line. The Metropolitan Line is great for direct access to Wembley Park, Baker Street, Moorgate, Kings Cross and Liverpool Street. The Metropolitan Line also offers a great connection to the Jubilee Line (Finchley Road is best!). Just step off the train and walk a few steps to the Jubilee Line platform.

The Jubilee Line train offers great access to:

  • Bond Street (Oxford Street shopping!),
  • Green Park (Buckingham Palace and access to Piccadilly Line – Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Chinatown),
  • Westminster (Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, Waterloo),
  • and it stretches all the way to Stratford (Westfield Shopping Centre).

A good tip is to jump on the Chiltern Railways Overground train if it comes before the Metropolitan Line train (both share the same platform/track) and travel 1 stop to Harrow-on-the-Hill (it is a 5 stop run on the Metropolitan Line). Get off at Harrow-on-the-Hill and then catch the next Metropolitan Line train (you may need to change to a different platform if you do this).

Bus

There are no direct bus options at the time of publication. Indirect choices are usually over 2 hours travel time.

An aerial view of a suburban neighborhood and green open fields. The left side features rows of houses with adjacent roads, while the right side showcases expansive grasslands interspersed with trees. The background includes more greenery and additional housing.

Martin was incredibly friendly and helpful from the very moment we booked, through to us leaving. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the nearby area, (which is very lovely, lots of greenery and great shops around too within walking distance).
