Serviced Apartments & Luxury Flats to Rent in Hemel Hempstead

Why we now have a CSR policy

CSR policy

Actually, the title of this blog is a bit of a misnomer because we don’t have a policy as such. What we have done is to blow our own trumpet about all the things we do anyway that come under the banner of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Our MD Martin definitely leads by example with his support for people in situations that, given the wrong kind of circumstances, we could all end up facing. He signed Abodebed up as a Gold Sponsor of The Hospice of St Francis which provides care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses. We probably all know of people who currently need or have needed hospice care, so charities like this always resonate with everyone.

Martin has also been active on behalf of DENS (Action Against Homelessness), which supports homeless people in Dacorum and those who are at risk of homelessness. From time to time he’ll go to the supermarket and load up his car with everyday essentials like toilet rolls and personal hygiene products for the charity – it may not be glamorous, but whilst shoppers generously leave groceries for the food banks, they tend to forget about the other necessities essential for everyday living.

When Abodebed bought Hypnos Beds for all the apartments last year, we donated all the old beds – which were still in very good condition – to DENS. We also occasionally donate furniture and goods when they are replaced.

Supporting local businesses

Abodebed is also keen to give a helping hand to Dacorum’s start-ups and small businesses. Martin said: “I feel lucky that Abodebed has done so well. It’s a privilege to be in a position to be able to give back and help out the local community”.

We are active in local initiatives such as Dacorum’s Den, Connect Dacorum and Hemel Business Ambassadors which are hugely supportive of local business, whether it’s through funding new initiatives, putting businesses in touch with each other at networking events, or promoting the whole area as a great place to do business in to encourage new companies to think about moving into the area.
