If you’re staying in Hemel Hempstead over New Year, there’s plenty to do to celebrate the beginning of 2018.
New Year’s Eve
Whether you’re a party animal, a pint drinker, or someone who prefers a quiet night in, you’re bound to find somewhere to celebrate New Year’s Eve:
Skiing
The Snow Centre will be open till 12.30am on New Year’s Eve if you fancy spending the night on the ski slopes (and in the bar for the apres ski!).
A night at the casino (sort of)
The Paper Mill is seeing in the New Year with a casino night. Entry includes a basket meal, a glass of fizz and some ‘Paper Mill Pounds’ to use in the casino – so you can enjoy the fun of casino games full in the knowledge that your shirt will remain firmly on your back!
Dining out
There will be plenty of restaurants open on New Year’s Eve, but if you’re looking for a themed evening, try The Fishery Inn. It’s a short cab ride from abodebed apartments and is offering a New Year’s Eve dinner for £50 per person, so if you’re looking for a celebration feast for either two of you or a big party of friends, this could fit the bill nicely!
Dining in
Alternatively, if you’d like to have a quiet night in, you can be as adventurous (or not) with your cooking as you like, thanks to the fully equipped kitchen in your abodebed apartment. Then, with over 400 channels to choose from on your Sky+ TV, you’re bound to find something good to watch. Or, if there really is nothing that interests you, bring your favourite DVD to watch as the champagne cools in the fridge ready for midnight.
New Year’s Day
On the morning after the night before, you might want a change of pace.
A refreshing walk
The Grand Union Canal is a short walk away from our abodebed apartments and you can walk as far, or not, as your legs will carry you.
Alternatively, a short drive away is the National Trust’s Ashbridge Estate, which is a great place for deer lovers. The estate was established as a royal hunting ground in the 13th century and fallow deer have been an integral part of it ever since. On New Year’s Day, the visitor centre and shop will be open from 10am to 4pm, and the cafe/café will be open from 8.00am to 4.00pm.
Panto
If you’ve got the kids in tow, take them to see Jack and the Beanstalk at the Court Theatre in nearby Tring. There are two performances on New Year’s Day (at 1.30pm and 5.30pm). What a great idea – altogether now: ‘Oh no it isn’t!’ ‘Oh yes it is!’
Shopping
Perhaps it’s a bargain you’re after. The Marlowes Shopping Centre will be open between 11.00am and 5.00pm on New Year’s Day, and the Riverside shopping centre will be open between 10am and 5pm.
