Eating out in Hemel Hempstead has never been better than it is today, with a wide variety of restaurants to choose from, there is something for everyone in this bustling Hertfordshire town.
We’ve probably had too many outings to restaurants in Hemel Hempstead, but at least we can recommend to you some of our personal favourites:
We had a very pleasant lunch at The Royal Oak in Abbots Langley last week. A very clean, modern place complete with ample garden for space for families with children. Service was great and the food was all homemade and delicious. In a way it’s classic British pub food but much more modernised and fancy! Would certainly recommend the mushroom risotto. http://www.royaloakabbotslangley.co.uk
We made a late booking at the Boxmoor Lodge Restaurant and were not disappointed. I had the Soufflé for starter and my partner had the Duck Liver Parfait and we both had the Aylesbury duckling – all was delicious but sadly we had no room for desserts (I had my eye on the Chef’s special crumble)! Very friendly and welcoming with a cosy lounge for pre and after dinner drinks. Will certainly visit again. A good place for something a bit more special but relaxed. http://www.boxmoorlodge.co.uk
We’ve eaten here on numerous occasions, particularly celebratory ones and have not been disappointed. Table bookings definitely recommended as it does get very busy and booked up in advance. Ambience is relaxed and informal, staff very friendly, and cannot fault the food, which is all locally sourced – a great gastro pub with traditional pub food but for the 21st century. Definitely recommended. http://www.alfordarmsfrithsden.co.uk
Our favourite Indian restaurant. The K2 Balti House is always a great place to eat, our kids love it and one is very fussy and the other is veggie, and we are both carnivores! Their conservatory is a great place to enjoy a meal as a family, with great service from very attentive waiting staff. Excellent fine-dining Indian food – just take a look at their pictures on their website. http://www.k2baltihouse.co.uk
As with the rest of Britain, the choice of different cuisines that Hemel Hempstead has to offer has vastly improved in the last thirty to forty years, but it is the restaurants that are serving up modern British cuisine that are really stealing the show here. Sourcing the finest seasonal local produce that they can find, they are cooking it simply and presenting it beautifully, which is the key to their success. So do enjoy the best food of what Hemel Hempstead has to offer!
